Fiji to tap Bollywood to attract tourists from India

Fiji Tourism is planning to target Bollywood to promote tourism products and destinations in Fiji. As a few Indian films have already been shot in Fiji, the tourism  department will be trying to attract more Indian film producers to shoot their films in Fiji. This information was provided by Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, Attorney - General and Minister for Tourism, Justice, Anti-Corruption, Public Enterprises, Communications, Civil Aviation, Industry and Trade, Fiji. Sayed-Khaiyum was in New Delhi, India recently to attend a road show, organized by Fiji Tourism. The Minister further added that the country will offer a 47 per cent tax rebate for film productions happenings in Fiji. “We are also planning to meet some of the producers in the Bollywood shortly during this trip to promote film tourism in Fiji,” the Minister revealed.

Speaking about Fiji as a tourism destination, the Minister said that it is a unique tourist destination in the South Pacific region. Fiji offers wide variety of tourism products for Indians. The country is currently witnessing a steady traffic of Indian travellers, the majority of which are corporate travellers.

Fiji Tourism is conducting road shows in four cities – New Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Mumbai. Eleven travel and tourism companies from Fiji are attending the show. “The main focus of the show is to highlight the diverse tourism products and destinations in Fiji as well as to educate the Indian travel trade about Fiji's offerings,” informed Pranav Kapadia, Director – Global Destinations – India Representative, Fiji Tourism.
